Viva, "Poltava"!
5 years ago the battleship Poltava was laid down! Congratulations to all involved with a significant date!

Let's remember together how the ship was built: from laying the keel to rolling out of the hangar.
Now "Poltava" on the water, construction continues. By the beginning of the season we plan to arm the ship: set the spars, rigging and sails.

For the St. Petersburg Yacht Club, historical research and restoration work are priority areas of activity. For this purpose, the shipyard of historic shipbuilding "Poltava" and the "Fund for the support, reconstruction and revival of historic ships and classic yachts" were created.
The initiator of the construction of the battleship Poltava is Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Board and Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC Gazprom.
The shipyard of historic shipbuilding "Poltava" is a close-knit team of shipbuilders and designers who recreated a reliable copy of the first battleship of the Baltic Fleet – the 54-gun battleship "Poltava". The ship was named in honor of the victory of Russian troops in the Battle of Poltava. "Poltava" was built on the Admiralty shipyards, launched in June 1712. Peter I personally participated in the design and construction of the ship.
The solemn ceremony of the descent took place on May 27, 2018 according to maritime historical traditions. The ceremony was attended by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexander Beglov, Presidential Plenipotentiary in the North-West Federal District, St. Petersburg Governor George Poltavchenko, Navy Commander Admiral Vladimir Korolev, Metropolitan of St. Petersburg and Ladoga Varsonofy.
World champion in kitesurfing, athlete of the Academy of Sailing Elena Kalinina became the godmother of the ship.
After completion of all construction works, the ship will become the center of a large modern interactive museum complex dedicated to the maritime history of Russia.
