Unlucky – so unlucky

One of the main losers of the current transatlantic race Route du Rhum is certainly famous French skipper Jeremie Bayou.

His brand-new yacht Sharal (Imoca 60), which was launched at the end of last summer, in advance called one of the favorites of the race. It was expected that Bau will throw down the gauntlet to the leader of the division – Briton Alex Thomson.

At first, it just happened. But among the leaders Bau and Sharal remained not for long: already next day after the start in Saint Malo, they fell back to 15th place because of the broken steering. And soon it was decided to stop the race and go to Lorient, where the base team. Repair – and return distance.

In the end the repairs took almost a week. Nevertheless, Sharal again went to sea to continue the race. High place in the division, of course, hope was impossible, but there remained another problem – it was important to test the yacht in the conditions of the transatlantic passage.

But… unlucky – so unlucky. Yesterday Bayu said shore team that he was denied the power supply system. The only way out is to return to Lorient.

This time, apparently, completely. Route du Rhum for Sharal over.
