Ultime class plans are breathtaking

      Ultime class plans are breathtaking
After several maxi-trimarans in the transatlantic Route du Rhum were seriously damaged in the fall of last year (and one of them was completely destroyed), it seemed that clouds were gathering over the Ultime class. For a long time.

Ultime class plans are breathtaking

The worst assumptions seem to be confirmed when the decision was made to postpone indefinitely Brest Oceans – the maxi-trimarans race around the world (initially the start was set for December 29, 2019). And almost immediately after that, it became known that the organizers of the Transat Jacques Vabre race to be crossed out in October eliminated the Ultime class (we recall the length of the ships — 32 meters, width — 23) from the list of participants.

However, the clouds suddenly dissipated quickly, the sky cleared. A week ago, the famous Francois Gabar told the sensational news (and we introduced you to it): the Brest Atlantiques maxi-trimarans race will take place next autumn. From French Brest – to the southwest to Rio de Janeiro. When approaching Rio – a sharp change of course in the direction of the Cape of Good Hope. After that, without entering Cape Town, – again changing course, to the north. The finish in Brest after a month and a little. On each trimaran there are two skippers, that is, the race will be double-handed. And be sure to have the reporter on board in order to illuminate the contest as fully and vividly as possible.

Moreover, it turned out that class plans are not limited to this race. As the influential (and, most importantly, knowledgeable) French online edition of Tip & Shaft reported, a long-term program for maxi-trimarans starts has been developed – which cannot leave real fans of these ocean monsters indifferent. So…

In 2020, the race will be The Arch – from the Mediterranean around Europe.

In 2021 – the world race with full crews. Start supposedly in Nice.

2022nd year – (at least for now) without general races; year reserved for repairs and record attempts.

But in 2023-m – the same, postponed until better times Brest Oceans Race, round-the-world single race.

Already breathtaking. We have exactly. And you?
