Ended the first day after Le Havre was the start of the 14th race of the Transat Jacques Vabre. Recall that participants have to overcome 4350 nautical miles from Salvador, the capital of the Brazilian state of Bahia.
In the race are the court’s three classes – class 40 (27 boats), Multi50 (3) and IMOCA60 (29). However, it is more accurate to say “were” because one boat has already been forced to go the distance. Talking about yacht Lamotte – Module Creation, which shortly after the start, took the lead in the class 40,and then gradually increased its advantage, but… At 8.50 Moscow time the crew of the Briton Luke berry and Frenchman Tanguy Le Turke – got in touch with the race organizers to say they have lost the mast. Details of how and why it happened is still there. We know one thing: berry and Le Turke alive and well.
Now in this class the leading British crew of the yacht Leyton – Fabienne Delahay and Sam Goodchild. During the day they covered 280 miles at an average speed of 10.7 per node.
The most attention, as expected, confined to the yachts of the IMOCA60 class. Ahead one of the favorites is Сharal Jeremy Bau and Christopher Pratt (during the day, the leaders overcame a 371 mile at an average speed of 14.3 knots). They are 10 miles ahead of 11th Hour Racing’s Charlie Enright, and Pascal Bidegorry.
The yacht Hugo Boss (Alex Thomson and Neil MacDonald) chose to go to the North and a day later after start occupies the 8th place in the class, trailing the leader is 17.7 miles.
