To the list of parting words to the new presidium
As we already reported, the next issue of Yacht Russia No. 3-4 (127) went on sale. We bring to your attention the comment of Vasily Senatorov, published in this issue of the journal under the heading "From the publisher".
The past World Ice and Snow Sailing Association (WISSA) World Championships showed that Russians are the undisputed leaders of world snowkiting. Both on boards and on skis. And the sport itself is rapidly gaining popularity. And in the world, and in our country.
And what from this? And the fact that this is one of those straws that can help pull Russian sport out of a scandalous doping deadlock. Former leaders stubbornly dug a pharmaceutical tunnel, not realizing that there was no way out of it, and the structure itself was about to collapse. Which is what happened. But contrary to all the logic of the main digger, at first they raised him for enthusiasm, then, however, they knocked out of the government with a bang.
But you need not tunnels, but autobahns. That could be the new sport “Winter Sail”. Just need to make snowkiting and boarding Olympic and include in the program of the Winter Games.
There is nothing unrealistic about this. I remember how in 1987 I first got on a snowboard at the Interski seminar in the Austrian Kitzsteinhorn. Alarmed by the falling interest in skiing among young people, the global ski industry then introduced "alternative" equipment. My snowboard “didn’t go,” and Volodya Sinetov, a skier from Kamchatka, immediately tamed the novelty. And he took the first snowboard to the USSR, exchanging it for caviar. However, the sports development board for two legs did not receive. The plan of the Soviet sports policy was that only recognized Olympic sports and disciplines were developed in the USSR. So the snowboard then remained exotic. How many of us would think that in just 10 years the “board” will become Olympic! And in popularity it will catch up with skiing.
Maybe we’ll start learning from mistakes?
What does a sport need to be recognized as Olympic? It should have its own international sports federation, national authorities and be cultivated in 25 countries on three continents. And national associations can initiate the recognition procedure, having inclined their international body to participate in it.
That would be something to do VFPS!
But so far our dear leaders do not see this perspective.
I associate my hopes for the development of this direction in Russia with the new leadership of the All-Union Central Federal Council, which will be chosen within six months. I think that World Sailing will be able to convince us of the prospects of this sport, especially since it is very youthful, entertaining, inexpensive, dump-free and gender-correct! I am sure that the IOC will not remain indifferent to it.
And therefore I ask the Executive Committee of the VFPS to add this proposal to the list of parting words to the new Presidium!
