Three leaders – unchanged
The final part of the Sochi Yacht Club Cup Regatta in the Optimist class started with two dynamic races in gold and silver, and one in the bronze fleets. The leaderboard is still headed by Artyom Maksimkin from Dolgoprudny.
On May 2, according to Chief Judge Vadim Mechanicov, the races turned out to be the most interesting for the whole time of the regatta. The wind radically changed direction and began to blow from the north / northwest, with a good blow compared to the first two days – the anemometer showed up to 16 knots on the gusts.
But it all started with a long wait on the beach. Smoke and calm ended only at 15 o'clock in the afternoon, the racers quickly went to the water. Recall, the athletes were redistributed to the "golden", "silver" and "bronze" fleets on the basis of qualifications.
The “gold” and “silver” fleets managed to be driven off by 2 races, but the 2nd race of the “bronze” fleet had to be canceled – the wind was over.
Artyom Maksimkin (Dolgoprudny, "Vodnik") again showed his best, showing 1 and 3 parishes, and with 7 points he continues to confidently lead, ahead of the nearest pursuer by 6 points. Danil Ivanov (St. Petersburg, Krestovsky Island), the winner of last year’s Russian championship, still ranks second, he has 13 points, the parishes are 2-4 today, the third is still the athlete of the Rautu DSPK (14 points, 3-2), the fourth place is held by Kirill Shunenkov (St. Petersburg, Academy of Sailing of the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg) – 17 points, parishes 5-1.
Recall that Danila and Andrey have practically no right to make a mistake – according to the regatta's position, only one result goes for the throw. Danila was disqualified after considering the protest on the first day, Andrew came in the second race 31st, so the guys can not risk in the remaining two races, because any bad start or violation of the rules will throw them out of the first three.
According to the girls, all the three first places are for the pupils of the legendary coach Anatoly Anatolyevich Parfenenko from Dolgoprudny: Maria Struk, Dina Zhilkina and Alisa Ivanova, but Dina has bypassed Alisa and now she is 2nd. Maria in a bitter struggle continues to hold the 10th place in the overall standings, and Dina leads in the junior girls. Eva Turkina (St. Petersburg, “Krestovsky Island”), Yulia Naimushina (Krasnoyarsk), still second, takes the second place among the younger girls, slightly reducing the backlog – the third.
The younger boys changed places Nikolai Fastenko (“Youth of Moscow”, Moscow), who rose to the second line, and Dmitry Eremin (St. Petersburg, “Krestovsky Island”), dropped to the third. Artem Cherpita (Sevastopol) – still the first.
According to the plan, the start of the fourth day races is still scheduled for 11:00, but the capricious weather in Sochi can make adjustments. In the case of two races this day according to the position will be the last racing day.
