At the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg came to the end championship of Russia of the international class. For five days 287 athletes from 36 cities of Russia and Belarus competed on the waters of the Neva Bay of the Gulf of Finland.
In the first days of the regatta organizers and the riders were unlucky with the weather. Wednesday in Saint-Petersburg was the heat and the wind, wind power 0.5-1 nodes are not allowed to hold any rally. On the second day, conduct of races has also been called into question, but toward evening the wind on the waters of the Neva Bay is still there, and the athletes took to the water. Variable and unstable wind force 4 to 6 knots allowed the organizers to hold two races in each class.
On the third day the athletes also did not wait for a strong wind, but thanks to the skill of the judiciary, the athletes still went the distance. Start race organizers gave in unstable winds of 4-7 knots, which allowed for one race in all classes, except “29”. In the class “420” expertly managed to give just two full start.
After two abnormally hot and windless days on Saturday in St.-Petersburg has established the perfect weather for sailing. Due to strong and stable wind, the organizers complied with the maximum program and spent from three to five races in each class.
The final day of the regatta turned out to be the same as the first days. East wind force from 0 up to 2 nodes did not allow the athletes to reach high speed. The judges have not given starts in the classroom Techno, RS:X and the “To 15”. Weather conditions in the water area of the Neva Bay have changed only closer to 14.00. In the gusts the wind reached as high as 4 knots, and distance were athletes in the classes of “Laser 4.7”, “29th” and “420”. Judge competently put distance relative to the wind direction, so the full-race took place in all three classes.
Most of us were glad the crew Academy sailing in the class “29th” Ilya Chuprin/Brovin Rodion, because they have a chance to outperform its main competitors – Dmitry Lazdin and Myron Gorkovenko (“of sshor of No. 6, Tolyatti). However, the race did not go according to script Petersburgers. Ilya and Rodion came second, opponents third, but by the decision of the protest Committee, both crews were disqualified. As a result the situation in the table among men has not changed. Dmitry Lazdin and Myron Gorkovenko – gold, Ilya and Rodion Cuprina Brovina – the silver and the bronze went to another crew Academy Sologubov and Ivan Vladislav Grahovo. Among girls the first – Polina Peresypkina and Victoria Lisanova (Krestovsky Ostrov), the second – Evgenia Stepanova and Anna Korneva (Academy sailing), and others – Alyona Sukhova and Natalia Ermakova.
“In the last race our match race with Ilya Chuprin began even before the start, says the athlete from Togliatti Dmitry Lazdin. – He tried to come to me, to be as close as possible. And the race we walked together, fought with each other. As a result, both broke the rules. First, he did not yield to me, then I also made a mistake that led to my suspension”.
In the class “420” among men the victory was won by the crew of the Moscow region Denis Lepine/Michael Karelin. Second place went to Michael Sakowski/Igor Malewski (Sochi) and the third Maxim Safin/Bogdan Alyautdinov (Togliatti). Among the girls was not equal to the crew of the sailing Academy Anastasia and Sophia Deryagina vereshagino, who also took third place in the overall standings.
“We are pleased with the result, but it can be better, – said the athlete Academy Sophia Vereshchagin. – We really liked the conditions – the first day was light wind, and then relatively much the barrel. In light winds we showed his best result, and in strong wind is not finalized. It is very interesting to test ourselves against boys because we have all boys are very strong, very hard to outrun them, but it makes you move on and work on myself.”
In the largest discipline in the Championship of Russia – “Laser 4.7” – the whole podium was occupied by the riders “Krestovsky island”. According to the results of the last race on first place took off Peter Putinski. Behind him finished teammates Dmitry Golovkin and Maxim Shaposhnikov. Fourth overall and first among the girls came Alexander Lukoyanov (14).
“I was interested to compete with the guys, – says Alexander Lukoyanov. I got the experience of racing in varied wind. It was interesting to race with the boys because they are all the same in some aspects stronger than we are. It was very interesting to compete on their level. I liked the atmosphere of the regatta. Championship of Russia is held once a year and we meet with guys long time no see”.
On the “red” race, where you compete windsurfers in the classroom Techno and RS:X racing took place, so the results remained unchanged.
In the class Techno under 15 years best of all made by Nikita Nezhentsev from Sevastopol. Four points he lost to athletes from Sevastopol and Krasnodar territory Dmitry Nesterenko and Pauline Ovchinnikov, who won the competition among girls. In the age category till 17 years was won by Daniel Dineev from Meleuz, but its main rival – Ivan Kovbasyuk from Sevastopol – he walked only on additional indicators. In the women’s competition was won by Anna Baranova. At older ages the gold was won by windsurfer from Moscow of sshor of No. 26 Ivan Efimov. In the standings, behind it stands the athlete Academy sailing Andrey Spiridonov and of sshor of No. 3 Alexander Khristinovsky.
In the Olympic class RS:X under 21 years of leadership fought Anton Tokarev from Moscow of sshor of No. 26 and the athlete “Krestovsky island” Ilha Kirichuk. The racers scored the same number of points, but Anton walked Ilya on additional indicators. In the U19 competition in first place by a wide margin finished the Sochi racer Konstantin kochkonyan. Among girls the best was Muscovite Yana Reznikova. After it finished Anastasia Shchedrin from the Academy of sailing and Julia Kavalerchik from the “Krestovsky island”.
We will remind that following the results of competitions determined the teams in the respective classes who will represent Russia at the international regattas in 2020.
At the ceremony with a welcoming speech to the participants of the championship of Russia addressed the President of Russian yachting Federation Vladimir Silkin.
“It’s great that nearly 300 girls and boys from almost all sailing regions of Russia competed in this wonderful area, said Silkin. – It is clear that the weather was thrilling, because the wind was very little, but I can say that the strongest always wins. Athletes should be able to chase and in weak and in strong winds. I want to say that you are the closest reserve of the national Olympic team. After a few years many of you will be in the Russian team. I congratulate you on the end of the Championship!”.
