The sports billionaire

Many of the fans sails probably heard of British billionaire James Ratcliffe – after all, he was behind the project British own boat to participate in the 36th draw of the America’s Cup.

In team building Team UK INEOS, the development of the ship and prepare to race 67-year-old Ratcliffe has invested “only” 110 million pounds. The amount of what to say, huge, but the 67-year-old sir James is quite expensive. After all, he is the richest Briton, whose fortune – more than 21 billion pounds!

Surprisingly another: this, to put it mildly, well-off gentleman sporting the main patron of the UK! That’s what we want to tell you today.

Ratcliffe called the “king of chemicals”, he is the founder and owner of chemical company INEOS is the largest company in the country. In addition, he has plenty of other significant projects, including, for example, exploration and extraction of UK shale gas and the creation of the SUV Ineos Grenadier (its sales will begin in 2021-m), the “spiritual successor” (in the words of Ratcliffe), a famous Land Rover Defender.

And yet this note we decided to write not in order to talk about the Ratcliffe-businessman. Rich people in England enough. But none like sir James, a sports philanthropist in the country. Judge for yourself.

We started with the sails – now back. In addition, Ratcliffe recently owned by the British team is new, but already hugely popular international sailing series SailGP. This team billionaire acquired to the members of INEOS Team UK had more opportunities for training in combat.

But sail it is not limited to:

– in 2019 Ratcliffe bought the famous velikonocni Sky Team, now called Team INEO. And in the same year, the representative Team INEOS Egan Bernal won the race “Tour de France”;

– in November 2017 Briton was acquired by the Swiss football club FC Lausanne-Sport;

– in August 2019 for EUR 100 million were acquired French football club OGC Nice;

Ratcliff has invested heavily in the project Ineos 1:59 Challenge (the so-called successful attempt, the runner Eliud Kipchoge to overcome a marathon faster than two hours);

And finally, just a few days ago sir James has become the biggest sponsor (and actually owns) the team “Formula 1” Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team. The one advocated by the famous Lewis Hamilton.

Whew, take a breath. Billionaires in Britain, as has been said, a lot, but anyone who would support the sport in the country. And all over the world, too.

You’ll enjoy this.
