On the second day of the 7th Star Sailors League finals – the decisive regatta of the year by boats of a class “Star”, which takes place at the Yacht club Nassau in the Bahamas – there were three races.
As you know, in this regatta, with a prize Fund of $ 200,000, with the involvement of 23 of the crew. In their structure the famous sailors from 22 countries. Including four Olympic Champions and 9 silver, and bronze Olympic medalists, 23 world champion in the class “Star” and two other Olympic classes.
Over the two days and five races (with one outlier) lead to Diego Negri (Italy) and frithjof Kleen (ger) – 8 points. 9 points (!) behind them the world Champions in the “Star” of Kushnerevich Mateusz (Poland) and Bruno Prada from Brazil. In the third position of two Americans – the legendary Paul Cayard (a veteran of the America’s Cup, Whitbread Round the World Race and the Volvo Ocean Race, which this year marked 60 years) and Phil Trinter with 19 points.
