The most massive start
The yacht club of St. Petersburg ended the championship of the city in sailing. The regatta was attended by 359 athletes. Championship of St. Petersburg has become the largest city competition in the last 30-40 years.
In the early days of the regatta, the organizers were not lucky with the weather. On Saturday, the wind power was 2-3 knots, which was clearly not enough to conduct races in most classes. As a result, only windsurfers came to the start. By the second competition day, the wind did not increase, but remained in approximately the same condition. Thus, to the equator of the championship, the judges managed to conduct races at windsurfers and the Zoom-8.
But the second half of the regatta turned out to be rich in windy days. By the beginning of the starting procedures of the third competition day, the wind rose to 7-9 knots. Compared to the windless start of the regatta, such a strong and stable southeast wind seemed like a real gift. From that day on, the weather did not let yachtsmen down and allowed judges to hold from 8 to 13 races in each class. The Optimists and Lasers 4.7 had the fewest starts, and Techno and RS: X most of all.
The program of the final competitive day of the championship of St. Petersburg also turned out to be eventful: it included both the two final races and the closing ceremony.
Racing day began with a moderate southwest wind of 5-7 knots. Initially, the judges planned to hold three races, but in the middle of the day the wind died down, so the organizers decided to return the fleet to shore.
In the most numerous Optimist class, a sportsman of the Academy of Sailing Kirill Shunenkov won a landslide victory. He brilliantly began the regatta, having won four victories in four starting races, but then slightly slowed down. In the next four starts he came in second, sixth, fourth and 23rd (outburst). By the finals of the championship of St. Petersburg on the account of Cyril was 16 points. Another “academician” Nikita Chernykh and athlete “Rautu”, “Academy of Sailing” and “ShVSM in the Air Force” Daniil Perchik lost 18 points to a teammate.
Having won all four stages of the regatta series “Optimists of the Northern Capital. Gazprom Cup ”, Cyril became the absolute champion of the competition and received a brand new sail as a gift.
“I liked the championship of St. Petersburg,” says athlete of the Academy of Sailing Kirill Shunenkov. – I did not really like the wind, because it was weak most of the days. The last day was the most disastrous for me, because the final series started, and it was necessary to do something with the result. The best was the first. I ended up in the lightest fleet and managed to take advantage of this. At the Russian championship I set the task to get into the top three and continue on like that. ”
Among the girls in the standings of the “Optimists of the Northern Capital”, the first and second places were shared by the Vodnik athletes Alisa Ivanova and Dina Zhilkina (52 points each). Following them is Daria Savinova from the Favorit Vyborg school (72).
In the standings of the championship of St. Petersburg among girls, Alisa Ivanovskaya from the Academy of Sailing, Rautu and ShVSM in the Air Force won the first place, gaining 47 points. The second line is Marina Babkina (108, Academy of Sailing), the third is Yulia Naymushina (140, Academy of Sailing).
“As a result, I took 20th place in the overall standings,” says Alisa Ivanovskaya. – And among the girls in St. Petersburg I am the first. I am pleased with the result, because it was not my weather. It was hard for me in such a wind – in a strong wind I race much better. Soon I will transfer to another class. I still think, but you can’t always sit on the Optimist. I would like to be clewed for the 29th. I’m going to the Russian championship and I’m ready to fight for the first place among girls – and not only because the classification of girls is a bonus. In some countries, in principle, it is not. I think that it’s also cool to fight with the guys.
In the Zum-8 class, gold and silver medals were won by athletes of the Academy of Sailing, Raut and ShVSM on the Air Force Stepan Zapoyev and Daniil Serdukov. For 10 races Stepan scored 13 points, and his competitor – 17. The bronze medal went to Artem Markov (Krestovsky Island). Among the girls, the winner was the athlete of Krestovsky Island Elena Obedzinskaya (34 points).
In the Luch Mini class, Grigory Aristov (Baltiets, ShVSM in the Air Force) won. Behind him was teammate Vladimir Gasanenko and Krestovsky Island athlete Ilya Tyurin. Among the girls, Veronika Smirnova (Baltiets, ShVSM in the Air Force) became the first. In the classes “Luch-radial” and “Luch”, the first place in the overall standings are also the sailors from Baltiets and ShVSM on the Air Force – Anna Gaponova (8 points) and Maxim Kozubay (7 points), respectively.
In the classes "Laser 4.7" and "Laser-Radial" in the overall standings, the athletes of the "Krestovsky Island" were the best. In the first modification, Maxim Shaposhnikov broke away from all the pursuers, who beat Petr Pashutinsky and Arkady Karmanov, and in the second, Vladimir Novoselov won in the fight against Alexandra Lukoyanova (first place among girls) and Elizaveta Borovkova (second place among girls).
In the pre-Olympic classes “420th” and “29th” the athletes of the Academy of Sailing traditionally rule the ball. Among the “420”, the crew of Ksenia Monastyreva / Tatyana Golozubova was the best expected, followed by Artyom Kuzmin / Alexander Melnikov and Pavel Baryshnikov / Dmitry Yakobson. But in the “29th” class, the struggle for leadership went all the way to the end – Anna Korneva and Evgenia Stepanova beat Vladislav Grakhov and Ivan Sologubov in the decisive race.
“We had a pretty tight fight, because there was a weak wind, and it’s difficult for us to race,” says Vladislav Grakhov, an athlete at the Academy of Sailing (class “29th”). “We weigh a lot more than the other crew.” It turns out that it was much harder for us to walk in a weak wind than they were. On the last day there was almost no wind at all, so we lost the last race. You need to train more in a gentle wind. This is pretty bad for us. At the championship of Russia we want to take revenge from the girls. "
The championship of St. Petersburg turned out to be especially intense for windsurfers. In the Techno and RS: X class, the organizers held 13 races at once, and in the “DNA” class – 11.
In the DNA class, the entire pedestal was taken by the athletes of the Academy of Sailing. Alexey Vorozhbitov – first place, Akim Petrov – second and Anton Golubev – third.
In the Techno 8.5 class in the overall classification, Eva Boytsova was not equal to the athlete of the Academy of Sailing and the “ShVSM in the Air Force”. Following her are Alexey Efremov (Krestovsky Island) and Alexey Burkin (Academy of Sailing).
In the RS: X class, Mikhail Alexandrov (Krestovsky Ostrov) won, silver was won by his teammate Gleb Semiletov, bronze was won by Andrei Karavan (Academy of sailing). Academy athlete Anastasia Shchedrina took first place among the girls and second in the overall standings.
Recall that according to the results of the championship of St. Petersburg, the composition of the city’s team was determined, which will represent the Northern Capital at the All-Russian regattas.
