The joy of victory at the Ostankino regatta
Last weekend, the 20th Children's Ostankino Regatta was held in Moscow, which has been held on the Ostankino pond since 1974 in honor of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. Since last year, it has acquired the format of a city-wide holiday, where it is interesting for both adults and children who are passionate about sailing and have not known anything about it before.
This year, the weather made everyone happy, except for the young riders on the "Optimists" – it was warm and windy. But the judges still spent several races among the older and younger "optimists" and the baton.
Svetlana Nikolaevna Krotova – coach of the sports school No. 26 of Moskomsport and a regular participant in the regatta was pleased with the results of her pupils and the sailing festival in general:
“I have been taking part in the Ostankino regatta since 1984. This is a very beautiful competition, which thanks to its successful venue attracts constant attention. Participate in it is always prestigious. There is a serious struggle for the result. Although the results on this pond is difficult to show. For example, this year there was little wind. In the first race, all mercilessly “rowed”, which looked very unsportsmanlike. But we must pay tribute to the chief judge Vitaly Trushin and the judicial brigade as a whole – all the “rowers” were disqualified. In the end, four people finished. The second race was more sporting and dynamic, as a little wind appeared.
And at the end of the competition was the relay. Relay races are held for many years – this is a very interesting “toy”, but not suitable for a weak wind. This time the relay started spectacularly with the wind, and ended with no wind. But still, it was also possible to hold it.
It was very pleasant to look at the joyful faces of our boys, especially those who received the first cup and medal in their lives, as well as those who took part in coastal entertainment and also won something! ”
By the way, the merits of Svetlana Nikolaevna were evaluated by the organizers. She was solemnly awarded the plank "For a significant contribution to the preparation and conduct of the Ostankino Regatta."
While there were battles on the water, sailing masters performed on the shore: Georgy Shayduko – silver medalist of the 1996 Olympic Games in the “Soling” yacht class, who told about his textbook “The ABC“ Optimist ”, as well as Honored Master of Sports Oleg Khopersky, who had fun and enthusiastically told everyone about the basics of yachting.
Also, all guests of the festival could take part in developing and creative workshops, win training in a sailing school and a lot of different prizes or ride a SUP-board along the pond. And as always, live music from popular artists and a good mood did not end until dark.
