Continues to try a 63-year-old French skipper Francis Guyana to improve on Maxi trimaran IDEC SPORT his own world record at the distance of 8800 nautical miles, from Port-Louis in Brittany to the other Port Louis, Mauritius.
The last time we talked about Goione and his trimaran three days ago. At that moment though he was moving with great speed (25 knots), but was ahead of its record ten years ago only 39 miles, and then did only 10. This was due to the fact that, skirting the low pressure zone with an epicenter near the island of St. Helena, a Frenchman walked a long way along the coast of Brazil, and then due South, away from their route 2009.
The maneuver paid off. Now, after 13 days after the start, IDEC SPORT ahead of the record schedule for the 671 mile (!) and every hour more and more to increase the advantage. In recent days passed, 627 miles with an average speed of 26.1 per node. The immediate goal is the Cape of Good hope!
PS it is Worth Recalling that race from Port Louis to Port Louis – the first stage of a record series, scheduled Guiana. Then follow three more stages – though not solo but with a team. Mauritius – Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam) – 3975 miles. Ho Chi Minh city – Hong Kong – 920 miles. And finally, from Hong Kong to London – 13000 miles.
