“The first two races have not asked”

Sunday, April 21, in Genoa passed the final medal race of the 3rd stage of the world Cup sailing. Unfortunately, the Russians they did not get.

We asked the sportsmen of the Academy of sailing, Jan Cech and Ivan Zotov became the regatta 15th to bring it up.

Jan Czech, steering, class 49:

“The regatta was marked by difficult weather conditions. Especially the first day. All the days of the barrel race slightly, for 2 days of racing did not exist due to the lack of wind.

We have the first 2 races has not worked, but then we are day by day gaining momentum and by the end of the regatta got up pretty high in the standings. An unfortunate black flag in the last race (we came in it 1st!) did not allow us to stay in the top 10 and participate in the medal race.

However, I’m glad I managed to confirm their level.

The main task was to distill as best as possible, but still the main starts ahead. I believe that we managed. 2 first parish, one of them with “the wheel” – worthy for this fleet.

According to the plan on may 3 fly to the UK for a fee, and then participate in the European championship there.

A big thank you to Academy sailing and Yacht club for your support!”

Ivan Zotov, Shkotovo, 49:

“The regatta was very difficult, first and foremost, psychologically. Probably for all riders and judges including. The race is held with very little wind, a lot of time waiting for the wind on the shore and on the water

We failed the first day, somehow it didn’t work out then. But then luck was on our side and the remaining 7 races we were on a different level. Satisfied that competed on equal terms with the strongest crews in the 49er class.

Especially pleased with the race in the gold fleet, where a struggle even more, and the price of any error is very high. We even won the last race with an advantage, but unfortunately was disqualified for a false start in this race. What pushed us from 6th position to 15th. Well, it happens. In any case, happy with the race and my result.

Thank you to all who support us, special thanks to Academy sailing and the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg!”
