According to the Russian Association of class SB20, three crew from Russia took part in the Hyeres regatta Cup, held last weekend in France. All three at the end was in the upper part of the final Protocol.
First place – team Absolut Igor Ginzburg, third in MST Vasily Grigoriev, seventh – VIS Sailing team Timur Sabirzyanov. Just start out of fourteen boats.
About the race says Artem Masalkin (Absolut):
– Regata missed three days and all three days of different weather conditions. The first day – fresh breezes, with the possibility of gliding, the second the same direction, but light wind in the third – fickle wind and direction and force.
I was pleased that in different conditions we almost always had a high speed. Even with not the most good starts or bad we were always out on the race ahead, all the way to the finish line competing with the French leaders. This time we helped our coach Rob Smith on the setting of the sails and not only that we took this step. We have a lot of potential for growth, and we are still far from the high standard.
Before the start did not set any tasks result at this regatta, but when after the first day, won all three races are automatically understood that the bar currently installed. And then played to hold onto the leadership, watching their closest rivals.
As expected, the main rival was two-time world champion in the class, the young Frenchman Robin Follin. By the way, the first day on his boat was missing one person, they chased the three of us, which affected the speed in running downwind. Think it was also a bonus for our victory at the regatta. And maybe the result could be different if in the first fresh breeze the opponents were at full strength.
Ahead of our team the whole season with four regattas a good level to the world Cup in hyères, which will be held in October. We consider them for our team growth for the main start of the season in 2019.
