The coaches are satisfied. Lecturer too
Leonid Dubeykovsky's seminar on meteorology for trainers was held at the Academy of Sailing of the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg
Classes with Leonid Dubeykovsky passed four days (January 14 – 17). The seminar was open to all trainers of the city, all interested sailing experts could listen to lectures. The objective of the seminar is to improve the coaching staff and to improve the qualifications of coaches of St. Petersburg.
Meetings with Leonid took place in the format of questions and answers. The renowned hydrometeorologist spoke about the basics of the dynamics of atmospheric processes, the features of dynamic processes above water, local meteorological processes, the basics of synoptic meteorology and much more.
“I am very pleased with these activities,” says Dubeykovsky. – I was very pleased to see the interest from the coaches. We had real lively communication, we can say that the seminars were held in an interactive mode. 10-20% of the total lecture time information came from trainers. They shared their experience and applied the knowledge gained, based on those cases in which they themselves fell.
“Leonid gave a huge amount of information in a very detailed and structured way, and most importantly, logically,” says Yevgeny Siobko, trainer of the Maritime School of the Academy of Sailing. – He did not provide us with ready-made solutions and recipes, but presented information in such a way that we began to understand the processes themselves.
Leonid Dubeykovsky is a candidate of geographical sciences, a distinguished specialist in coastal hydrodynamics and marine meteorology, creator and administrator of the popular entertaining hydrometeorology group on Facebook, and author of The Feeling of the Wind. From 2008 to 2013 he was a specialist in hydrometeorology of the Russian national sailing team.
A seminar will be held next week at the Academy of Sailing on safety and first aid.
