Early this morning the Dutch barque “Europe” with an international crew of 19 people were moored in the home port of Scheveningen. Completed non-stop sailing trip from Ushuaia, with a length of 81 days and more than 10,000 nautical miles.
No advance and could not imagine that “Europe” will have such a long voyage, but so there were circumstances. The bark was in Ushuaia (Argentina), at the outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus and countries one after another began to be closed from the outside world. That’s when the captain of the Dutch barque Eric Kesteloo and decided that the ship going home from the South to the North, across the Atlantic – without calling in ports.
Ongi went to sea on 27 March. Forever behind!
