      Zhuillon again hit the road
Last night, Moscow time, the 63-year-old skipper Francis Zhuillon and four members of his crew, leaving the IDEC SPORT max trimaran from Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam), headed for Shenzhen (China).

Zhuillon again hit the road

The third stage of Zhuillon’s record tour is very short – only 870 nautical miles. It is planned that IDEC SPORT will cover this distance in three (maximum – four) days, depending on wind conditions. It is worth noting that on the path of the trimaran there are many islands and fishing boats.

Recall that the first stage – 8800 miles from the town of Port Louis in France to another Port Louis on the island of Mauritius – IDEC SPORT overcame in 19 days, 18 hours, 14 minutes and 45 seconds. The second stage – from Mauritius to Ho Chi Minh City (3975 miles) – was completed in 12 days, 20 hours, 37 minutes and 56 seconds. As for the fourth stage, it will be 13,000 miles of the classic Tea Race from Hong Kong to London.

      “Three times hit the net”
Before the end of the race, over time, the 63-year-old French skipper Francis Jouillon and the four members of his team have only a few days or even hours left. Recall that the goal of Zhuillon and Co. is to set the IDEC SPORT max trimaran world record at a distance from the town of Port Louis on the island of Mauritius to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. 4000 nautical miles.

“Three times hit the net”

Now, at 12:00 Moscow time on Monday, 520 miles remain for the IDEC SPORT team to finish in Ho Chi Minh City. It seems to be – not at all a lot, but the catch is that over the past two days they managed to overcome only (do not believe it!) 286 miles! This is due, firstly, to calm weather and the oncoming stream, and secondly, when passing the island of Kalimantan, trimaran more than a hundred times (!) Turned out to be fishing huts on stilts.

“Sunday night gave us a lot of trouble,” Jouillon wrote in his diary. – No one closed his eyes. At some point, we finally caught at least some wind, but could not increase speed – we were afraid to come across a hut or get into fishing nets. Three times still hit. Fortunately, it was not necessary to dive: they freed themselves from the nets pretty quickly. ”
