Behind the second day of the world championship in the class “Optimist”, which takes place in the Bay English Harbour, Antigua.
But before we tell you about its outcome will give the floor to the coach of the Russian team Ilya Elisheva. Here is what he said about the first day of the regatta, the press service of the sailing school “Krestovsky island”:
Our Luggage only arrived the day before the start of the regatta, so trained not on their site. Didn’t get to the end to feel the speed in such harsh conditions. Five-meter swells, which are three or four waves, in addition to gentle can be found solely in Cascais. And few understand how to oblivate. Very important the first high-speed gals, can’t make any mistakes. If you are hit by a wave, you automatically lose their place on the start line… A very team started off badly, including ours. Error was dismantled and today will try to fix them. According to plan – two races. The wind increases and will be even more difficult. But we will try to improve the results.
Now on the second day of the championship.
Just say that Richard Shultes (Malta) has strengthened its advantage. He again, as before, won both races of the day. Amazing consistency, despite the fact that the conditions, as predicted by Eliseu was even harder than the first day.
As for the five young Russians, they are still far below the results table, but it is reassuring that the three of them managed in this table up. And, for example, Danila Ivanov in the fourth race, finished 13th. I hope that this is the first step.
Here are the results of the Russians. The numbers in brackets are the places they occupied after the first two races of the day.
