The third season of the international children’s regatta OptiOrangeValencia opened yesterday, March 6, the only race, which took place in fresh winds.
Westerly wind force of up to 25 knots provided a fierce rivalry and competition on the course so that results were difficult to predict. One of the early leaders of the regatta began Kirill Susenkov and Vladislav Kochetov.
The list of participants OptiOrangeValencia 2020 is crowded with the titled athletes, representing 27 countries. Among the 345 participants, the Champions of the countries and the leaders of the national ranking.
On the first day of the competition, the participants were divided into four fleets, each of which held one race. First started a Yellow fleet, where competition with the Irish Rocco Wright won the sportsman of the Experimental group of the Association of the class “Optimist” Kirill Shanenkov.
“The race was interesting, at first I missed a few rivals, yet scooped the water, then another, and the penalty received – comments Shanenkov. – After the penalty I went to clean the wind, to gain speed, and I was lucky with the sunset. Gradually I overtook several opponents, and, at the finish, ahead of the Irish.”
The Briton Santiago Sesto-Cosby, which is not a heroic figure, surprised everyone when he took the lead of a race in the Green fleet. But to stay in the lead couldn’t and finished fourth. The victory was celebrated Marie Mazzei from Switzerland. “Today was a difficult day for all, physically very demanding, but thanks to training I was able to achieve the result, says the race Marie. – Such conditions are different from those to which we are accustomed at home, but if you stay focused, you can overcome all!”
The second in the Green fleet came Vladislav Kochetov from the team “to Rout”.
In General, despite harsh weather during the race of girls are not inferior to boys. In the Blue fleet first and second place for Swiss Victoria Aglinskas (which they were fined 5 points on the shore for lack of painting of the parish) and the Portuguese athlete Julia Cardoso. Third there was MATEO Coroner from Spain.
In the Red fleet was won by the Belgian Boris de Wilde. Second came the Swiss Boris Hirsch, and the third was an Irishman Ben O’shaughnessy. Among younger young men in this fleet, best of all made by Nicholas Fastenko.
Overall, among boys, the best result was shown by Tim Lovat, which entered the top ten of the Blue fleet in sixth place. Ilyas Yakin was among the first Junior in the Yellow fleet. Among the younger girls leads Leila Edwards.
“I want to commend our athletes who have successfully started the race in such difficult conditions, – commented the results of the day the coach of the Experimental team of the Association class “Optimist” Anna Basalkina. – In addition to Cyril and Vladislav want to mention Fastenko, sheludyakova, Yakin, Alice Ivanovo, Black, Larchenkova and others. Traditionally, after the race, athletes and all guests of the regatta was expecting the meal of Spanish paella, and partners of the regatta provided fresh juice and other drinks. Among the athletes was held a drawing of promotional prizes.
The third season OptiOrangeValencia will continue until March 8.
