The owner of American football team Washington Redskins Dan Snyder (Dan Snyder) bought a 93-metre Feadship superyacht Lady S (formerly Project 814) for an amount in excess of $100 million, and the additional options ordered IMAX theater on Board, costing him another $3 million.
The 93-metre Feadship became the world’s first yacht with an IMAX theatre on Board.
The theater was so great that the ship was originally built around him. According to participating in the work on Lady S Burgess naval architect ed Beckett (Ed Beckett), quoted by The Guardian, it touched, including the development phase of the boat, as, if nothing prevented you to enjoy movies, the yacht should be designed to be as quiet as possible.
“It was impossible to prevent the sound from IMAX into the neighboring cabins, and, more importantly, to the sound of the motors or vibration was felt inside the theater. If this had not been achieved, we would not have received a certification from IMAX, and it was the most important for the owner,” explains Beckett.
It is noteworthy that in the company IMAX today seen such a big demand for private cinemas, I had to create a separate unit to work with super-rich clients. Now that there is precedent for the installation of a giant screen on the yacht who knows how many more such “floating cinema” will appear in the future?
In addition to the Lady’s Dan Snyder and his wife Tanya are the proud owners of 68.5-meter Amels Lady Anne.
