Cyril Shanenkov won the first in the history of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg competitions in Virtual Skipper
For the first time in the history of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg was attended competitions in eSports – Academy athletes competed in the sailing races simulator Virtual Skipper 3. Virtual regatta has registered 47 athletes from groups Optimist, 420, Laser, as well as from Marine school.
Competition for such simulations allow to yachtsmen around the world to improve your tactical skills and knowledge of the theory of sailing races during periods when access to water is impossible.
On February 16 passed the qualifying race, and on February 17 – semifinals and finals.
Michael Khristinovsky, the main organizer of the virtual regatta, said that the race was very emotional. “I don’t remember ever forced to cry of the children (laughs). But racing is racing, only one can win. Overall everything went very well, the coaches noticed that the drivers behave in the virtual racing is exactly the same as in the real world. And this is a very valuable trainer in a relatively quiet environment can help the athlete to deal with the tactics, learn to make the right decisions. Very young riders in this format will also better master the rules of sailing races.
We plan to hold another competition before the start of the season, making minor adjustments to the regulations taking into account the received experience.”
In the end prizes were distributed as follows: 1st place – Shanenkov Cyril, 2nd place – Nikita Black-3rd place – Nikanov Marat in the final, Kirill showed the first 3 coming in three races! All finalists received prizes from the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg and the Academy of sailing.
The high-speed track also showed Kirill Shanenkov – 21.18, having received the photobook of the Nord Stream Race.
As noted by Cyril himself, have helped to win tactics and knowledge of the rules of sailing races. “The competition I liked it, sometimes had very difficult. If the schedule allows (Cyril is part of the national team in class Optimist – approx.E.K), with pleasure will take part in the next regatta!”
