Base team Spindrift Racing in the French Brest trimaran left at 11 o’clock Moscow time. And before that, before dawn, took a farewell of the crew with family and the final photographing (some of these images we publish it here).
Line start/finish a round the world races between the French island of wassan and lizard point (the southernmost point of great Britain) black and gold Spindrift 2 crossed in 14 hours 47 minutes 27 seconds (again on Moscow time).
Recall that the record (and, hence, the Jules Verne Trophy), 2017 belongs to Francis Guiana that on the trimaran IDEC SPORT was held around the world in 40 days, 23 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds. So, to improve this achievement, the Team and his team need to cross the same virtual line, but in the opposite direction, not later than 26 February at 14 hours 16 minutes 57 seconds.
Recall also that favourable weather “window” to the crew of Spindrift 2 had to wait nearly two and a half months. And now, finally, this “window” appeared. Which should allow the trimaran to cover the distance to the equator is not more than 5 days.
