“Finally, the wind blew,” yesterday I heard this phrase from many athletes. And indeed, from early in the morning, the western breeze blew out with a force of 15 catch, reaching up to 20 on gusts. In Palma Bay, a tangible wave appeared.

Only for light female crews, and there were a lot of such ones in the 49er FX silver fleet, this wind turned out to be too much. In the first race, more than 10 boats turned upside down. However, the team of Zoya Novikova and Diana Sabirova coped with the rounding and eventually finished in 6th place. Repeat in the next two races, this result was not possible, but so far this task in front of the team and not worth it.

“The fact that the young team is coping with a boat in such a wind inspires hope,” said Vadim Pushev, coach of the Krestovsky Island school. – It became possible as a result of our winter workouts in Portugal. And the results, I think, will not take long. ”

The team of Pavel Sozykin and Denis Gribanov improved their results – the 11th and 14th parishes. Now the guys are in the 12th place in the 470 class, and they still have a chance to get into the medal race.

“The boat is set up, and the team can show the result, but we need to work on the starts,” said team coach Mikhail Zabolotnov after the races.
