This year Prestige Yachts celebrates a round date: 30 years is the age when life experience has already been accumulated and clear goals for the future have been formed. Recently, the Prestige brand has grown at a particularly high rate, and today the French shipyard is the world’s leading manufacturer of commercial flybridge motor yachts in 40-60 feet. This was largely due to the globalization course that Prestige Yachts took ten years ago. The release of such successful models as the Prestige 500 and 560 gave the shipyard the opportunity to make itself known outside of Europe, and the appearance of the sportbridge Prestige 630S and 680S further strengthened its position on the international stage.
Like mass-produced car manufacturers, the company is continuously diversifying its lineup, however, when creating new boats, it practices an exclusively evolutionary approach in order to maintain customer loyalty. A dynamic exterior, elegant interiors and technologies that make it easier for users to interact with the boat are the basic values that make up Prestige yachts, while their cost does not leave buyers wondering “what to pay for?”.
Motor cruiser buyers usually expect to get the same level of comfort as at home, but achieving this in the limited space of a 60-foot boat (and still staying within a reasonable price!) Is not easy. We have been observing the activities of Prestige Yachts since 2011 and we can say that with each new generation of yachts, the shipyard is approaching the perfect balance between the seaworthiness of its vessels and habitability. Their technical complexity increases, the design progresses, the quality of finishing increases, but at the same time Prestige boats do not become a niche product: they are still “polyvalent”, intended for the widest audience and the most diverse regions.
Compared to 590 Fly, the yacht looks sportier, which should appeal to a younger audience.
The Prestige 590 Fly was presented in 2018, production began in November, and in just five months the company sold three dozen hulls, and, according to its director, Erwin Bumps, many buyers switched to Prestige from other brands. In the spring, a new yacht rolled off the assembly line at the Les Herbier plant every four days. But since the Sportbridge segment is extremely popular now, the shipyard will present the continuation of the S-Line – the Prestige 590S in Cannes in the fall. Mostly young couples without children choose yachts with such a superstructure, or, on the contrary, people of an age whose children have already grown up and separated from their parents. Moreover, some families constantly live on the boat, and this entails much higher requirements for comfort on board.
It should be noted that the sportbridge on the 590S is practically a full-fledged flybridge. On the sports bridge there is a grandiose “solarium” and a full-fledged control post with the Ship Control monitoring system, which allows you to display information about the state of on-board systems not only on multifunctional displays on the dashboard, but also on a smartphone or tablet.
