"Pallas" is not allowed in Mauritius
The website http://ocean-media.su publishes urgent news from the journalist Grigory Kubatyan from the Pallas:
Rumors that Mauritius will not let us go have intensified. Each of us keeps in touch with the house, but only by e-mail from the Pallas address. Each has its own informants on land. They said that Mauritius extended the quarantine until April 2, then until the 4th, then until the 15th. Allegedly there are more than a hundred sick. Air traffic interrupted, borders closed. Young people, our group of trainees, some passengers should get off in Mauritius. How to be
We laugh that we will have to go with Pallas to Vladivostok, but still this is another two months – a huge time. It is necessary to return home, to work, to obligations, to children. To imagine that now it is impossible is very difficult. It seems that the issue is about to be solved – through the embassy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Emergencies. But there is no good news.
We decided that we would not lose heart. If you have to stay at the Pallas, we will settle in. Our intern Sergey Kosarev, head of the transport department of Gazprom, got a job as an assistant in the engine room. He got acquainted with all the mechanics, walks with a business look all in oil, repairs something.
His wife, Sveta, works in the laundry room. Other guys help in the sailing workshop, in the kitchen, on the deck. Everyone has a job.
The birthday of trainee Roman Marichev was celebrated. He turned 50. They inflated a balloon. The girls made a cake of sushi and condensed milk. They made a musical video greeting card and showed it in the evening on a sail, on the counter-mizzen. The result was an open-air cinema. And later there was a guitar song festival. The main thing is not to lose heart. Or are we not sailors?
The captain officially announced on the speakerphone that the ship was changing course. Now it is the Strait of Malacca, the city of Singapore. Go to him – a month. Singapore is now closed, but there is hope that they will open it before our arrival.
Since we are sitting without communication, we are not afraid of newspaper headlines and horror stories from social networks. Indeed, everything is in order at the Pallas. The weather is nice, the wind is fair. We do not know what is happening outside. We fantasize: it seems that from day to day everything will return as it was, the borders will open, the planes will begin to fly. We are afraid that we will come to a deserted continent, through which pieces of newsprint will fly.
"Pallas" is our ark. Our village is on the back of a whale. What is being done outside – the devil knows him! If the world does not recover in the coming weeks, you will have to go to Vladivostok. What if in Russia the transport connection is suspended? You’ll have to buy a bucket and go home on your own.
– Why buy? I'll give it to you anyway. I have a minibus on Sakhalin, – the intern Sergey Kosarev suggested.
Well, Sakhalin is not far away. Now, in any case, we have to cross the equator, and the northern hemisphere is almost the native home. The familiar big dipper and the small one are nearby. In general, our planet is not so big. In China, someone sneezed, half the world fell ill. And we are the only ones who are not in danger – only the sea is around.
