Yesterday, January 10, at the Yacht club de Monaco launched the 10th anniversary in a row, the regatta, the Monaco Optimist Team Race – team race sailors in the class “Optimist” to 14 years.
This competition is traditionally attended by 16 teams from all over the world, representing the world’s strongest boat clubs, among them the Academy team sailing the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg as part of coach Denis Razumovich and athletes Alexander Minibaev, Cyril Sumenkova, Andrei Fedorov and Alice Kodaneva.
This regatta will be for our riders, the most important stage of preparation for the European Championships in team racing in the class “Optimist”, which, like last year, will be held in late August on lake Ledro in Italy.
Says Denis Razumovich: “we Started well in the first day, January 10, held 5 races, won 3 wins and suffered 2 losses: lost to the current Champions of Europe, the Swedes, and became in 2018 in Monaco by 4 Belgians, so the result I am satisfied.
Guys, first time performing in this part, fought well, were collected, in the end, only one loss was the result of tactical errors.
Unfortunately, due to the airline we got it in our sails, we had to race on a local, thanks to the organizers for assistance.
The weather is great, Sunny, and yesterday the barrel of 5-7 knots, the competition was even held in the open sea, although in the past we usually raced in the Bay”.
The competition will last until January 13.
