Our special correspondent Viktor Acacemic reports from Sweden where I come to the end of the second racing day of the championship of Europe on buernomu sport in the Monotype XV class.
Good evening dear readers. I continue its coverage of the European championship on buernomu sport. By the way, this year in one place are the European Championships in two classes – DN Monotype XV. The result is a magnificent ice-yacht week races, workshops and party in the evenings in a friendly atmosphere.
But back to the actual racing. In the Monotype XV class today, Tuesday, was held only one race with a weak unstable wind. It won a Russian rider Oleg Vasiliev (R1), strengthened his lead in the championship. But in General, it is better to go the distance was the riders who chose the left side of the area.
In this championship uses a system of competition “Grand Prix”, in which all the participants finish after the leader (the last full distance) at its current range, that is, lagging of Berestov still have the opportunity to get points, despite the short distance. This allows to reduce the time of the race in light wind and less to push the glider if the wind dies down.
As usual, today I took a little interview with Berestov. At this time, my interlocutors became Estonian racers Indrek Avik and Siim Valgre (C14):
“Estonia has a long tradition of ice-yacht. The state helps buernomu sport, partially funded buernomu section. Children have the opportunity to engage directly buernomu sport in schools. The greatest development buernomu sport has received on the Islands of Saaremaa and Hiumaa. All Estonian racers actively communicate among themselves, exchange experience. And it shows in the results: our crews in the standings are a tight group, claiming the victory. In addition, the leading riders still do build ice boats for children. We believe that this is a great tradition!”
