New from YYachts at Cannes Boat Show
YYachts will showcase its new Y7 at the Cannes Yacht Festival. It is worth taking a look at, as this new 70-foot yacht has unique features.
Finally, the organizers of the Cannes Yacht Festival, which will be held this year from September 8 to 13, finally confirmed that the show will take place. The North German shipyard YYachts plans to demonstrate its latest Y7 model on it – the yacht Cin Cin is already heading towards the Cote d'Azur.
The model was developed in collaboration with the American designer Bill Tripp, who took part in the construction of many yachts up to 86 meters long. The new Y7 – like all YYachts models – combines comfort with competitive features, for which it is not a shame to distance any regatta.
All the halyards, sheets and guy wires on the Y7 are led out by hidden wiring to the helmsman's place, which can control the boat alone – a rare option for a 70-foot yacht. With a weight of about 28.5 tons and a sail area of almost 300 square meters, the Y7 performs well even in light winds. As standard, this carbon yacht is, of course, equipped with carbon masts and booms.
Deck Y7 is covered with an environmentally friendly tree from Lignia, the suitability of which has been tested for six years in Florida – at high temperature and high humidity. The Welsh manufacturer is so confident in it that it gives a 50-year product warranty. This seems like the perfect alternative to tiku.
Another feature is the use of the Oscar system. The cameras of the system use artificial intelligence to identify objects in the water that are not visible with conventional radars or echo sounders. The system is connected to the autopilot and, thus, helps to avoid obstacles even without steering intervention.
Below deck, the Y7 is also very modern. Interior design is the work of the Danish company Norm Architects. Copenhagen designers created a Scandinavian atmosphere by using two different types of wood for floorboards and wall panels, as well as using light colors to create a sense of space.

About the shipyard
Y / Yachts Shipyard is one of many success stories of its founder Michael Schmidt. Schmidt, himself a passionate yachtsman and racer, was looking for a suitable yacht. Not finding what he was looking for on the market, he decided to build the perfect yacht himself. Following this dream in 2016, the new Y / Yachts brand launched its first Brenta 80 "Cool Breeze" yacht.
Y / Yachts exclusively builds carbon fiber yachts in Ladebow on the Baltic Sea. The shipyard produces sailing yachts up to 33 meters long with modern, newly built equipment. An automated painting workshop allows you to paint the yachts in almost any color or bake the yacht prepreg at temperatures up to 90 degrees Celsius. The Y / Yachts lineup currently consists of six models: Y7, Y8 SRD, Y8 SRD +, Y8 DC, Y9 and YX. Everyone shares the motto of Michael Schmidt: "Yachting is the pleasure of a yacht that has only the most necessary, without sacrificing comfort."
