On March 8 in Spain kick off the second season of the international children’s regatta OptiOrange Valencia. Launched in 2018, the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg, OptiOrange Valencia for a short period was able to increase many times the participants.

Participants OptiOrange Valencia 2019 looks very impressive. There are a lot of famous names, winners of major international regattas. Belgium is represented in almost full squad that represented the country at world and European Championships. Ireland was sent to Valencia top-5 national championship. From the Netherlands arrived one of the best sailing schools with full teams. Strong teams will represent the UK, Poland, Switzerland and Italy.
You should pay attention to a small team. Latvia is represented by only two athletes, but one of them – Martin Atilla just defeated a fleet of 500 participants in Barcelona, is second in Spanish Optimist Excellence Cup. A small team of the Bermuda Islands was headed by national champion and winner of the open championship of great Britain Christian Ebbin. From Ukraine is only one athlete, a representative of the sailing dynasty, Maria Leonchuk.
The Russian Navy is the second largest team after the Spaniards. Athletes of the Academy sailing team, the “Raut” are a growing fleet of the Northern capital. Here as an experienced, United team OptiPRO athletes of the two schools, and also some new guys. In particular, if to speak about leaders of the Russians, it is worth noting the winner and the winner of the Championships of Russia Kirill Konenkova and silver medalist of the championship in 2018 for juniors Nikita Black (both Academy), winner of the championship of Russia in 2017 Ivan Okhotnikov (Raut).
“We had planned just an extended training camp with the Spanish athletes in Valencia, but the initiative was supported by a large number of local schools, and last year we had over 80 athletes at the start – says the Commodore of the Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg, Vladimir Liubomirov. – In the new season we are accepting 350 athletes and it is truly international level of competition. We are pleased that the endeavor of the club is such a success. At the same time, it’s a big responsibility for us, because there will arrive teams from 15 countries! Without exaggeration, this is the largest field the event has ever been organized by the Russian yacht club!”
The competition program looks really interesting. In addition to the races themselves, the children can visit the famous City of arts and Sciences of Valencia, to see the spectacular “Festival of fire”, and most importantly – to enjoy the famous Spanish oranges, which gave the name to the competition.
Before the start of competitions for everyone famous Belgian coach Peter van der Bosque will have a training clinic.
Competition OptiOrange Valencia will be held on March 7-10, a training clinic van der Bosque is scheduled for March 5-7.
