For some time, in the Beagle Channel near Ushuaia, the ships went almost next to each other, so that crew members could greet each other not only with three beeps of ship typhon, but also personally send greetings to colleagues. Cadets, according to the old tradition, waved their caps.
In order to preliminarily calculate all the crew’s actions during maneuvering, captains Mikhail Yeryomchenko and Nikolai Zorchenko held a briefing under the guidance of the head of the navigation and practical training department of the BFFSA, Mikhail Novikov, in which skippers of junior class vessels also participated. The difficulty was that all vessels had different speeds, so, in mathematical terms, I had to bring a small fleet to a common denominator.
The captains of sports yachts left an entry in the book of honored guests of Kruzenshtern. They wished the crew of the legendary barque seven feet under the keel.
“Congratulations on the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica! It’s great when Russian sailors meet in such remote corners of the planet! Let us come from small yachts, and you are aristocrats of the seas, the more pleasant and honorable it is for us to participate in such a wonderful event. Fair wind, interesting routes! Hurray to the Russian fleet and Antarctica! ”, Wrote Vladimir Sharlaev.
