Macif trimaran Macif retired?
French banking group MACIF announced yesterday that it is ending its financial support program for the Ultim sailing maxi-trimaran class.
As emphasized in the official communique, this is due to the fact that the four-year program developed for the Macif Max Trimaran is fully – and successfully – completed. In the future, the banking group intends to focus on supporting other classes of yachts – primarily IMOCA 60 and Figaro Beneteau.
The leadership of the MACIF group expressed its deep gratitude to the skipper Francois Gabard (recall that in 2017 he aboard the Macif trimaran set a world record for single and non-stop circumnavigation – 42 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds). It is especially noted that now the 37-year-old Gabar will devote a significant portion of his time to training the riders of the banking group in the classes IMOCA 60 and Figaro Beneteau.
The construction of the new Macif Maxima Trimaran will continue. However, the company MerConcept, created by Gabar, will directly deal with this.
