Let's wait until September
The Majorca RS: X Windsurfing Championship comes to an end in Mallorca. Today will be the final starts.
The most important thing for us is: Stephanie Elfutina has the 9th place among European rivals, 87 points (with two outliers) for 11 races, parishes (10) – 5 – 7 – 5 – 9 – 24 – 17 – 12 – 1 – (30) – 7. At the same time, Stephanie, who did not take part in competitions for six months, is in the overall standings – the 12th.
The result of Elfutina is all the more demanding that the entire color of the world of windsurfing now stands in Mallorca. Here, for example, who is now among the top three in the overall standings. In first place is the Chinese woman Liu Yongxu, who last year won bronze at the World Championships in Aarhus. On the second, Frenchwoman Charlene Picon, Olympic champion of the 2016 Games in Rio, who won silver in Aarhus. And finally, on the third – Lilian de Geus from Holland, the current world champion. Wow company!
I want to believe that by September, when the world championship in RS: X starts in Torbole, Stephanie will pick up the best form – and then … Especially since here, in Mallorca, in one of the final races, she became the first. Good sign!
Two other representatives of Russia – Anna Khvorikova and Maria Lemenkova – at 36/49 and 44/67 places respectively.
The men in front also have the most famous racers. The leader before the medal race – the Dutchman Kiran Badloe – took a silver in Aarhus a year ago. At the same time in second place is his teammate Dorian van Rijselberge, the victor of Rio 2016 and the current world champion.
As for our guys, they have, let's say, everything is modest. If you remember, only Alexander Askerov got into the Golden Fleet: He is 41st among Europeans, 50th in the overall standings. The others who spoke in the Silver Fleet completed the championship as follows: Yevgeny Ayvazyan – 45/55, Vladislav Burmistrenko – 49/59, Maxim Tokarev – 57/71, Ilya Kirichuk – 70/90.
And about the young men. Artem Akimov finished the regatta on the 36/38 place, Anton Tokarev – on 51/54 (both in the Golden Fleet), while Mikhail Alexandrov – on 58/62 (in the Silver).
