You probably already know that the lady Elena Kalinina won silver at the world Championships in kiteboarding. In command offset Russians third
5 may on lake Garda ended the next world Cup kiteboarding, a discipline in which athletes glide on the water surface using a kite, a kind of paraglider.
Athlete Academy sailing Elena Kalinina, who won the silver, summed up on his Facebook page:
“Yesterday on lake Garda ended the world championship for kiteboarding. I took second place in the individual standings, and we with Denis by Tardini managed to win a bronze medal in the team race.
The conditions were difficult – the wind was periodically absent, which is not typical for the Garda. However, we have had three days of racing, one of which was dedicated to team racing. This is a new format that will be used at the Olympic games in 2024. Its essence consists in the following: from each country recruited a team or several teams in the “boy + girl”. In the first race, for example, start girls, passing one lap and then pass the baton to your teammate: he has the right to start only after the girl passed the changeover area. He then passes the remaining circle and finishes. His place is the points the team gets. It takes a few races in which alternately, start boys and girls. I really liked this format, it was interesting to compete, to watch, to work in a team. Dennis showed a very good result – just one point separated us from first place, and with the second we had equality, but was influenced by additional indicators.
The race took place predominantly at the weak wind, I mainly used the Elf kites Джокер8 area of 15 meters and 18 meters. In the individual standings I struggled with the winner of the last championship American Daniela frost. In two of the seven races I came first thanks to the right tactical decisions. Also, thanks to winter training I was able to approach her in speed, but still a little short of moves. In the upcoming season will work with materiel and their equipment.
Third in the women’s fleet was the representative of Australia – Brian Whitehead.
Among men gold medal was won by the reigning world champion – Frenchman Nico Parle, silver and bronze went to the representatives of great Britain – Oliver Bridge and Connor Bainbridge.
Denis Taradin entered the top 10 and took the 9th place. I would also like to congratulate the debut of two more Russian sportswomen: Valery Kraiko, which was the seventh, and Sofia Kotlyar!
I Express my deep gratitude to my coach Roman Lyubimtsevu, the company “Elf” for quick kites Tarifa Foil Boards, sailing Academy of St. Petersburg for support and my family! Going home to open the summer season in his hometown.”
