This winter we are pleased by any news of the competition held by Snowkiting. So, last weekend on the waters of the Volga river from Chkalov has passed the open championship of Nizhny Novgorod region sailing in the following classes Snowkiting course-race ski, course race Board.
As we reported earlier, due to the lack of ice on the Moscow sea, the timing of the Cup of Russia which was to be held last week, was postponed to March. So many racers from Moscow, Yaroslavl and Cheboksary, Kozmodemyansk and Chkalovsk took the opportunity to go out on the ice of a frozen Gorky sea.
Over the two days of racing, there have been nine races in which participated 23 of the athlete. There was also held a children’s competition JKS, which competed eight pupils of sports schools of Moscow and Moscow.
The forecast promised light freezing temperatures and a good wind, which was met in full. On the first day the participants had a comfortable North-westerly wind strength of 10-12 knots. Occasionally through the clouds shone the sun. Signs of the race were exhibited near the mouth of the river Trots and riders when passing, had to consider the proximity of the coast.
There were six races. The undisputed leader among the skiers was Mikhail Sergeyev from Moscow – the first six parishes. In second place with 14 points – Herman Vaskov from Chkalovsk, who was one of the organizers of these competitions. Closed the top three of the Ivan Yartsev with 24 points. In the classification of the snowboarders were only three participants, the first was Vladimir Alekhine. Children’s competition was led by the Junior from Moscow “School of the wind” Vladimir Filatov, Savva of Kilpi and Margarita Filatov.
On the second day the forecast was the wind increased to 18-20 knots with gusts to 25. In the starting zone, which this time was moved seaward, the chalk drifting snow, wind ragged strove to collapse the raised wings. Self-confident athletes, who took 15th size, soon hastened to change them to 11 or even 9-foot, but even such dimensions backstage allowed to accelerate to 80 km/h.
A slight delay was the start of three races. And still Mikhail Sergeev or no competition – another three points in the Treasury of the winner of the championship (with two emissions totals 7 points). Despite missing one race due to a collision Herman Vaskov has retained its second position in the standings and won a silver medal (22 points). But Ivan Yartsev couldn’t hold on third place and sold it to Vadim Tsvetkov from Yaroslavl (25 points). From boarders go the distance could only Vladimir Alekhine, he became a winner in its classification.
At juniors on a distance came the three the most highly trained participants. Savva of Kilpio was able to pass two races and led the children’s medal (10 points). In second place with the same number of points, Vladimir Filatov, who finished one race in second place. Anna Vaskov, though not able to get into the top three winners (32 points), but managed to win the second race of the day. Bronze Margarita Filatova (27 points).
