Kites over Mount Sea
This winter, we are pleased with any news about the held snowkiting competitions. So, last weekend in the Volga water area near Chkalovsk, the open sailing championship of the Nizhny Novgorod Region was held in the following snowkiting classes – ski course-course, course-board flight.
As we reported earlier, due to the lack of ice in the Moscow Sea, the dates for the Russian Cup, which was supposed to take place last week, were postponed to March. Therefore, many riders from Moscow, Yaroslavl and Cheboksary, Kozmodemyansk and Chkalovsk took the opportunity to go on the ice of the frozen Gorky Sea.
For two racing days, nine races were held, in which 23 athletes took part. A JKS children's test was also held, in which eight pupils of sports schools in Chkalovsk and Moscow competed.
The forecast promised light freezing temperatures and a good wind, which was fully justified. On the first day of the participants, a comfortable northwest wind of 10-12 knots was waiting. From time to time, the sun peered through the clouds. Signs of the distance were displayed near the mouth of the Trinity River, and the riders had to take into account the proximity of the coast when passing it.
Six races took place. The undisputed leader among skiers was Mikhail Sergeyev from Moscow – the six first arrivals. In second place with 14 points is German Vaskov from Chkalovsk, who was one of the organizers of these competitions. Closed the first three Ivan Yartsev with 24 points. In the standings of snowboarders there were only three participants, the first was Vladimir Alekhine. The children's classification was headed by juniors from the Moscow “School of the Wind” Vladimir Filatov, Savva Kilpio and Margarita Filatova.
On the second day, the forecast indicated a wind gain of up to 18-20 knots with gusts of up to 25. In the launch area, which this time was shifted more steeply, the snow was shallow, the ragged wind strove to collapse the raised kites. Confident athletes who took the 15th dimensions, soon rushed to change them to 11 or even 9-meter, but even such dimensions on the backstops allowed to accelerate to 80 km / h.
With a slight delay, three races were launched. And still, Mikhail Sergeyev had no competitors – three more points in the piggy bank is already the winner of the championship (with two outbursts of 7 final points). Despite one missed race due to a collision, German Vaskov kept second place in the results table and won silver (22 points). But Ivan Yartsev could not stay in third place and lost to Vadim Tsvetkov from Yaroslavl (25 points). Of the boarders, only Vladimir Alekhin could go the distance; he became the winner in his standings.
The juniors at a distance went three of the most trained participants. Savva Kilpio was able to pass two races and led the children's standings (10 points). In second place with the same number of points, Vladimir Filatov, who completed one race in second place. Anna Vaskova, although not able to get into the top three winners (32 points), but was able to win the second race of the day. Bronze at Margarita Filatova (27 points).
