      Kistanov. Behind him – Bozhedomov
According to the website of the VFPS with reference to the Russian Finnish class yacht association, the 11th traditional international regatta in this Olympic class was held in Moscow. The competition was attended by more than 40 athletes aged 14 to 70 years from nine regions of Russia.

Among the participants were three international-class masters of sports, 17 sports masters, and one participant in the Olympic Games. At the same time, the active participation of young athletes – 17 juniors, was pleased. In the Russian championship Finn-Masters 22 sports veterans took part. Despite the fact that the number of participants in this year's regatta was inferior to the previous ones, it gathered the main core of riders who systematically engage in sailing in the Finn class. The vast majority of adult athletes performed exclusively on their own yachts.

Nature gave participants and organizers good warm sunny weather and a moderate wind with complex approaches and amplification-attenuation bands. So the riders were able to test their tactical skills in plenty, and each race kept the intrigue to the very last meter. In the first two days, the race committee was able to hold seven good long races, which ultimately determined the outcome of the regatta. The fact is that in the following days an anticyclone arrived, which did not allow a single start.

Racing as a whole turned out to be tactically difficult – there was no clearly pronounced advantageous side. The situation was constantly changing, the winds, like the sunsets, went in spots, stripes, several streams fought. And the riders needed to not only masterfully navigate in such conditions, but also considerable luck.

From the very beginning, the leader in the regatta was seized by the leader of the Russian national team in the Finn class, Muscovite Arkady Kistanov. Not far from it is the winner of last year's regatta, Yuri Bozhedomov from Sevastopol. Both athletes showed very good technique, tactics and until the end of the regatta did not give any chance to other rivals to get closer to themselves.

For the third place, a struggle developed between Evgeny Deev (Sevastopol) and Dmitry Petrov (Tolyatti). By the finish of the seventh race, the athletes were even on points, and only a larger number of the best arrivals allowed Evgeny Deev to take third place.

In general, the race took place with great competition, many athletes, both young and experienced, significantly increased their level.

The Open Russian competition was also the final of the Andrei Balashov Cup. The results of 18 regattas of the season that took place in Russia were summed up, and the winner of the 2019 Cup was determined. They became junior Kirill Kolyachenko. The second place was taken by Felix Denikaev. Third – Alexander Kravchenko.

At the end of the regatta, a route race was held separately dedicated to the memory of the outstanding yachtsmen Viktor Potapov, Andrei Balashov, Valentin Danilov and Alexander Chumakov. The winner of the race was Kirill Kolyachenko.
