The winner of the transatlantic race Route du Rhum – Destination Guadeloupe in division Ultime with a new record of the race is 7 days, 14 hours, 21 minutes and 47 seconds – was 62-year-old Francis Joyon Maxi-trimaran IDEC Sport.

The previous record of 7 days, 15 hours and 8 minutes – was installed 4 years ago by Leuk Paranam on Banque Populaire VII.

The victory of 62-year-old Guyana became a sensation of the current “Rum race”. As you know, most of the distance 3542 nautical miles in the Last division was in the lead 35-year-old françois Gabaret on Macif: its advantage over Guyana at some point exceed 160 miles, and most observers agree that the question about the winner has already been removed. But…

Closer to the finish line, Guion started to get closer to his younger rival. Moreover, the unexpected happened: faced with a certain subject, Macif lost one of the rudders and Foyle, which naturally affected his speed.

To the island of Basse-Terre, where Pointe-a-Pitre (that’s where the racers had to finish) Dim and Guyon came at the same time – and in complete calm. Suffice it to say that the last couple of hundred metres IDEC Sport has covered almost half an hour. Macif is even slower.

At the finish line of trimarans was observed in Pointe-a-Pitre, many thousands of fans, although it was around midnight. In the end, the winner – Guion – ahead of the second prize of gabara’s only 7 minutes and 8 seconds. And both of them have improved the previous record of the race of Leuk of Parana.

While in other divisions the struggle continues. The situation there at 11.30 a.m. Moscow time on Monday is:

Multi 50. The armel Tripon (Chocolat Reaute) – to the finish line 1349 miles.

Imoca 60. Alex Thomson (HUGO BOSS) is 1438 miles. The nearest pursuer – Paul Meilhat to SMA – the Briton is ahead on 112 miles.

Class 40. Yoann Risom (Veedol – AIC) in 2024.

RhumMulti. Pierre Antoine (OLMIX) – 2534.

RhumMono. Sydney Kavine (CafeJoyeux) – 2108.
