It was the case in Takapuna
In January, the competition for yachtsmen traditionally small. This, of course, is a minus for a news sailing resource.

But, on the other hand, there is a plus – you can tell about the regatta, which in another, more intense start-up time, we would hardly be interested in. For the simple reason that the Russians, alas, do not participate. Already that year.
Speech on the World Championship among catamarans "Tornado", which recently ended in the suburb of Auckland, New Zealand – Takapuna. 23 crews from 8 countries took part in the races, and the gold eventually went to Australians Brett Bervill and Max Putmann. They are the ones on the very first picture.
New Zealand, of course, is far away, and therefore there were relatively few participants. In other years, of course, there are more of them, especially when the world championship is held in Europe. But even then the regattas are held without Russians. What is sad. Once the catamarans "Tornado" were popular with us – in those not so distant times when they were present in the Olympic program.
And now all that remains is to look at pictures from Takapuna. The fight there, apparently, was hot.
