In the selection for the Universiade won ZID-Art
After three racing days that were difficult for the weather conditions, the winners and prize-winners of the All-Russian Sailing Student Competitions were finally determined – the selection for the XXX World Summer Universiade.

In the selection for the Universiade won ZID-Art

The competitions in Sochi, as reported by the Council of Mass Sailing of All-Russian Volunteer Sport Federation, gathered 7 teams representing 9 cities and 16 universities of Russia.

From start to finish, the regatta went like clockwork in the hands of the experienced and skillful organizer Valery Alekseev. An experienced racer and judge, Alexey Ganzhenko, in the role of chief judge for three days, managed to conduct 17 quality races for the participants. This and the fact that the competitions were held in the format of transplantation completely eliminated accidents and helped to select the really strong trained crews.

In many respects, this became possible also because highly skilled direct refereeing on water was organized, which was led by Empire Class International Vladimir Pavlov. In the intervals between races, he also held briefings for teams on the rules of sailing races and dealt with situations, due to which there were practically no protest situations on the water – all crews were chasing the most correct.

The first racing day turned out to be a confident performance by the ZID-Art team (Dmitry Tretyakov, helmsman, crew: Daniel Banayan, Ivan Volchkov, Marina Taran, Daria Fedyanina), assembled with the support of existing riders – members of the J70 Association: seven races and seven wins. The second was the team of the Don State University "Tikhiy Don" (Svetlana Chekhov, steering, crew: Pavel Grib, Akim Papyshev, Denis Kipko, Svetlana Veshnyakova), well-organized and trained hard before the competitions under the guidance of experienced athletes of the Rostov region. Not far from them, the RUS Sochi team (Andrei Chervyakov, crew: Evgeny Ayvazyan, Polina Firsova, Sofia Bugakova, Natalia Ganzhenko), made up of local students-athletes, came in third place.

The second day added intrigue to the competition, showing how seriously all the crews came to fight for vouchers for the Universiade. Not a single crew managed without successful wards or failures, and even the leaders did not look so unconditional. Nevertheless, the ZID-Art team retained the leadership, but in the fight for the second ticket after 13 races, the teams of the DSTU "Silent Don" and RUS Sochi were equal in points.

The last day of the competition decided to continue the test of the racers with the weather: incessant rain, low temperature, light wind, swell. But, nevertheless, the past 4 races have already helped to clearly place the teams in the deserved places and with certainty determine those who will adequately represent Russia at the Universiade. As a result, the team of ZID-Art (RUS Dolgoprudny) won, the RUS team of Sochi (FPS of the City of Sochi) took the second place, and the third team of the DSTU "Tikhiy Don" took the third place.

Competitions were organized under the auspices of the Student Sailing League, the All-Russian Sailing Federation and the Russian Student Sports Union. The organizing organization is the Federation of Sailing in Sochi based on the FSUE "Ug-Sport".
