In the same place every Thursday
The final of the Kommersant Evening Regatta Series completed the amateur yachting season in the Northern capital.
Every Thursday from June to September, residents and guests of the Northern Capital got acquainted with sailing as part of the amateur Kommersant Series of evening regattas, in total 12 sports regattas took place during the season. The organizers of the amateur competition are the Yacht Club of St. Petersburg (YaKSPb) and the Kommersant Publishing House, the general partner of MegaFon, the technical partner of M-Marine.
“Yacht management can be compared to a Swiss watch, the gears of which, large and small, should work in unison. This is amazing when every millimeter won helps to get ahead of the opponent’s yacht by half the hull. During the race, we periodically grabbed each other by the collar so as not to fall overboard. In such conditions, the boundaries between managers and employees are blurred, ”commented Gevork Vermishyan, General Director of Megafon PJSC.
“We are pleased that we were able to open the way to yachting for more than 200 participants in our regatta,” says Alex TV Zhirov, PR Director of YakSPb, commentator for Match TV. “Despite all the weather difficulties in the Northern Capital, we managed to hold 12 very informative and sporting events, I am sure that our participants will continue to sail and enjoy the freedom, drive and speed that always accompany sailing races.”
Kommersant sailing regatta consists of at least three races. The crews of yachts under the guidance of professional skipper instructors go a certain distance, trying to finish earlier than their rivals.
“I think that any beautiful business is combined with sailing, beautiful people are combined with sailing,” says Maxim Efimov, Director General of Kommersant Publishing House in St. Petersburg. “We are very pleased with the results of this year and are glad that more and more people are joining our project.”
