This is the equator of the regatta, there are two more offshore stages – Stockholm – Helsinki and Helsinki – St. Petersburg, and two series of coastal short races in Stockholm and Helsinki.
In the second offshore stage, the gold was won by the Swedish Royal Yacht Club, in the second place was the North German Racing Union, in the third place was the Leviathan team. In the overall standings, the Russian team in 2nd place with a score of 9 points. The Swedish Royal Yacht Club leads with the same number of points, the Danish Royal Yacht Club in third place with a score of 13 points.
During the second stage of the race, yachtsmen passed 390 nautical miles, the weather conditions in the Baltic changed several times: from complete calm to a fresh headwind, which reached 24 knots in gusts. Many athletes noted that it was a real test: the yacht's roll was about 30 degrees, the three-meter wave constantly covered the boat, and at that time everyone needed to be on the deck.
At the second offshore stage, the composition of the Swedish team was the youngest, 2 girls took part in the transition. “It was difficult, especially towards the end of the race. It was a very long transition. We went through almost all the weather conditions that one can imagine. Then the wind is generally sour. We lost speed, and we just turned around on big waves, just like all the boats around. Despite the fact that Russia started the best, we were able to get around them in the future, ”said the Swedish team’s trimmer Marcus Höglander. He admitted that three-meter waves became a real challenge for the whole team. All, without exception, soaked through and through.
“You know, it was a very difficult stage,” said the skipper of the German team, Sven-Eric Horsch. – Everything was constantly changing: we were the first, then the last, and we are very glad that we finished second. We are very proud of the Swedish team, the guys were super fast. ”
The Russian team repeated the scenario of the previous race, taking a good start and losing the lead towards the end. “We are dissatisfied with the result, we were again in the lead, we were breaking the day – and again we lost in a situation that was not very clear to me,” Mikhail Sheremetyev commented on the Leviathan tactician
