22 December 2018 in the Northern capital will host the annual awards ceremony for achievements in the field of sailing “yachtsman of the year of St. Petersburg” was established by the Saint Petersburg sailing Union (Federation of sailing of Saint-Petersburg) and “Yacht club of Saint-Petersburg”.
Every year the sailing life of the city on the Neva is becoming richer. In 2018, the calendar of competitions has hundreds of regattas, a growing number of children’s schools, and the St. Petersburg sailors bring home prestigious trophies. Reborn club life and the sailing community is growing.
The event aims to celebrate the outstanding results of the athletes of all ages, coaches, sports journalists and photographers and all those who contributed to the development of yachting in St. Petersburg.
The holding of the award allows not only more time to meet a wide range of sailors, representatives of government and business, but also to celebrate important milestones in the development of sails in St. Petersburg. Held for the fifth time, the ceremony 2018 will be dedicated to the main event of the year – the 300th anniversary of the founding of “Neva fleet”, the first yacht club in the world.

The nomination is open until 15 December, after which the expert jury, consisting of representatives of the Committee for physical culture and sport, yachting Federation countries and cities, commanders of yachts-clubs, Directors of children’s schools will shape the shortlist and vote for the winners.
