The International Sailing Federation, World Sailing, announced in a press release that its director, 56-year-old Briton Andy Hunt, would leave his post for 4 years at the end of December.
In his own words, already at the beginning of 2020 he will occupy another, no less high and responsible position in world sport.
Foreign sailing editions received news of Hunt's upcoming departure that was outwardly neutral, but poorly concealed satisfaction showed through the lines in their materials. Hunt, who previously had nothing to do with sailing, has been heavily criticized by the press for all four years at World Sailing. Moreover, more than once there were calls for his departure.
Before becoming a gender at the International Sail Federation, Hunt worked for the British Olympic Association and led a number of media companies. He was also one of the leaders of the organizing committee of the 2012 Olympics in London, where, according to former colleagues, he left a bad memory about himself.
