How much will Jouillon improve the record?
The 63-year-old French skipper Francis Gouillon is left with 800 nautical miles to improve his IDC SPORT max trimaran his own world record in the distance from the town of Port Louis in Brittany to another Port Louis, on the island of Mauritius.
And now the question is one – the one that is put in the headline: How much will Jouillon improve the record?
The 18th day of the race ends with time. Behind – more than 8,000 miles. The remaining 800 IDEC SPORT, if nothing catastrophic happens (I don’t even want to think about it), it will take about two days – even despite the fact that two low-pressure bands have to be overcome. By the way, over the past day, maxi-trimaran has walked 495 miles. You could say it was walking around: one day it was 716.5 miles.
Zhuillon is now ahead of his own schedule for 2009 by 1487 miles – which, as the classic once wrote, is a huge distance. Ten years ago, the Frenchman at this moment just passed the Cape of Good Hope. And in Mauritius finished, recall, after 26 days, 4 hours, 13 minutes and 29 seconds.
How about this time?

P.S. Recall that the race from Port Louis to Port Louis is the first stage of the record series planned by Jouillon. Then three more stages will follow – however, it is no longer a solo, but with a team. Mauritius – Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) – 3975 nautical miles. Ho Chi Minh City – Hong Kong – 920 miles. And finally, from Hong Kong to London – 13,000 miles.
