. From the Krestovsky Ostrov sailing school in the Laser Radial class are Ekaterina Zyuzina, Maria Kislukhina and Alexandra Lukoyanova, in the Standard – Daniil Krutskikh.

Despite the difficult weather conditions, today there was one race. A wind of 30-35 knots and high waves greatly complicated the regatta and were unusual for our athletes. “The wind today was at an angle to the shore and very strong. Because of this, gusts were strongly felt in the sea, which was aggravated by a high and steep wave. When approaching the coast, the wind was very unstable, ”says Krestovsky’s coach Vladimir Krutskikh.

Despite the difficulties, the guys are encouraged. Vladimir notes: “It was cool, well, that drove away. The guys felt what they were capable of. This is an invaluable experience. ”

Due to its large size, the Laser Radial class was divided into two groups. The first group included Kislukhin and Zyuzin, the second – Lukoyanova.

Recall that the Krestovsky team left for Australia at the end of December to participate in the Australian Championship in the Laser class, which took place in Melbourne from January 3 to 8. Our athletes spent a break in preparation for the championship of Oceania in active preparation. Daniil Krutskikh trained on the water together with top athletes from Australia and England, the girls trained separately, working on the starts and tackling the wave.

“Melbourne often has strong winds. The weather changes 4 times a day. Hot, then rain, again heat and wind. Wind currents, not strong. Since the depth in the bay is 6-10 meters, the waves are constantly large, and without preparation it is very difficult to steer on them. What we are doing is taxiing. The main difficulty is the smog from fires. Sometimes not

visible at a distance of 200 meters. The organizers are seriously thinking about canceling races with poor visibility, ”said Vladimir Krutskikh.

The first day of racing in the Oceania Championship ended for Krestovsky athletes with the following results:

Laser radial. The first group.

Kislukhina Maria – 23rd (22 points)

Zyuzina Ekaterina – 26th (25 points)

The second group.

Lukoyanova Alexandra – 25th (25 points)

Laser standart.

Daniil Krutskikh – 44th (43 points)

For tomorrow 3 races are planned.
