On the morning of last Saturday, 63-year-old Francis Joyon on his Maxi trimaran IDEC SPORT took the start in the French Port-Louis (Brittany region). The purpose of the famous skipper – another Port-Louis, Mauritius. The distance to be overcome is the 8800 nautical miles.
At this distance, recorded the official world record, and 10 years ago, Guion single-handedly took that road for 26 days, 4 hours and 13 minutes. Now his goal is to improve their achievement. To do this he must finish in Port Louis not later than 13.24 UTC on 14 November.
While IDEC SPORT is faster than the graphics of a decade ago. The first two days he traveled 176 miles more than in 2009.
It is worth noting that the race from Port Louis to Port Louis is only the first stage of a record series, scheduled Guiana. Then follow three more stages – though not solo but with a team. Mauritius – Ho Chi Minh city (Vietnam) – 3975 miles. Ho Chi Minh city – Hong Kong – 920 miles. And finally, from Hong Kong to London – 13000 miles.
