In Geelong (near Melbourne) today completed the world Championships in the Olympic classes 49er, 49erFX and the Nacra17.
In a class 49er win (who do you think?) the most famous yachtsmen of the present new Zealanders Peter Burling and Blair TUC. All their accomplishments to list are not going (long story), suffice it to say that the Olympic Champions of the Rio 2016 together win at the 6th world championship in the 49er!
Before the final day of the regatta Burling and Tuck took the second place – though, from the Austrians Benjamin Bildstein and David Hussle they are lagging behind by only a point. Well, today it quickly became clear after the final two races of the new Zealand stars twice came first.
In the end Burling and Tuke 38 points. In the second place, the Spanish Diego Botin and Iago Lopez Marra – 58. While Bilstein and Hussel and all were fourth – they have 61 points.
In the 49erFX Champions of steel Tamara Echegoyen/ Paula Barcelo (Spain) – 42 points. Here, too, the substitution: in the lead up to the last day Charlotte Dobson/ Saskia Taydi (UK) eventually finished second – 52.
And finally the Nacra17. The first and second and then reversed. The gold Cup of the British John Gimson/ Anna Burnett – 67 points. Australian brother and sister Nathan and Haley Outteridge received silver medals – 68.
P. S. Recall that the Russian sailors in the regatta, which was held in Geelong, did not participate.
