A handsome man, film actor, writer, traveler, yachtsman … His artistic career developed rapidly. And then – unexpectedly for everyone – he stopped acting.
Refusing to renew his 20th Century Fox contract, he left Los Angeles on the east coast. There McKay began to look for a suitable yacht and without much difficulty found in one of the countless marinas of Fort Lauderdale. For the next year and a half, he walked from island to island, crossing the Caribbean Sea a dozen times. He enjoyed idleness, although idleness had not previously been a property of his nature. At times he was troubled by remorse, but Gardner justified himself by the fact that he just needed to take a breath after the marathon race, with which he compared four years of filming in the series “Adventures in Paradise”. And all would be fine, but they recognized him, the producers continued to bombard him with sentences and scripts, and then he decided to run away.
