      From winter to summer

The press service of the Krestovsky Island School works well – they can always find useful information. Here, for example, such.

From winter to summer

Athletes of the Krestovsky Island school, Valery Garashchenko and Denis Taradin, together with trainer Alexei Chibizov, went to Mexico, where they would begin preparations for the first 2019 HYDROFOIL PRO TOUR competitions.

They will be held from 11 to 16 March. More recently, Valeria Garashchenko took part in the European Championship and the first stage of the Snowkiting World Cup according to the IKA version, which took place on the border of three countries: Italy, Austria and Switzerland.

“Lake Reschensi is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level and is surrounded by mountain peaks about 3000 meters high,” Valeria said. – Since the lake is high in the mountains, even if there is no good weather forecast for us, the wind always blows along the gorge.

For the three racing days the competitions were held in three disciplines: marathon, course-race and freestyle. The coating on the lake was very diverse: ice, snow and water, which added difficulty in passing the distance.

Competitions gathered more than 70 participants from 10 countries, and all showed a very high level. The first five passed the distance very tightly, the struggle went on at every segment of the distance.

I became the first not only in the women's, but also in the men's competition, in the disciplines of the marathon and the course-flight. In recent years, I have been training and performing on a par with men, which allows me to progress and compete with them.

All my previous sporting success was achieved in snowkiting. I won all sorts of winter competitions and now I want to try my hand at Olympic kiteboarding.

As for Mexico, I have been seriously training for a year in a new discipline, and my debut in the race on hydrofoils will take place very soon: after the training camp that has already started, from March 11-15, I will participate in the first competitions of the summer season 2019 of the year.
