For yachts TP52 quarantine is completed
Yesterday, the BBC Dolphin cargo ship left Cape Town Port, carrying 9 TP52 class boats participating in the prestigious 52 SUPER SERIES.
The TP52 fleet visited Cape Town for the first time and was forced to spend much more time here than originally planned. Recall that at the very beginning of March the first regatta of the season took place here (which bore a record long name – Odzala Discovery Camps 52 SUPER SERIES V&A Waterfront Cape Town). The Italian Azzurra won in it, and the Russian "Battleship" took fourth place.
After this, the teams were in no hurry to go home: at the end of March in the same Cape Town the world championship in class TP52 was planned, but the infamous COVID-19 intervened. And in the end, the championship had to be postponed to September, and the boats were stuck in South Africa quarantined for a long time.
The port of Cape Town is still closed (it should open May 1), but they made an exception for the TP52 fleet. Yesterday, as you already know, boats, as well as escort boats and crew containers, were loaded onto the BBC Dolphin, after which the truck, without delay, headed for Valencia.
Arrival in this Spanish city is scheduled for May 16.
